There has been some dispute about the extent of budget cuts to build new bike lanes in Melbourne.

So let us look at what is to be built, rather than arguing about how much the budget has been cut.

Nothing. Zero. No new bike lanes.

Which part of the 2030 plan is funded in this budget?

Nothing. Zero km of new protected bike lanes.

From the plan: “By 2030 we will… [create] more than 50km of protected bicycle lanes.

How many protected bicycle lanes from the 2030 plan will be built using 2025/26 budget?

Zero. Nothing. No motorist will be inconvenienced by this council!

The clever strategy of the new administration is to spend money on swapping out existing infrastructure and replacing it with the most expensive materials possible. Look what we are doing for bike lanes!

Nothing. Zero. Just spin, and more spin.

Budget carried forward is insufficient to complete this project. Delay is due to re-design to incorporate more trees. Trees are good, delay is understandable. Carry forward budget is insufficient.

And on and on it goes, the list of bike lanes which are NOT TO BE DELIVERED
